JM Staffing is searching for Cooks in San Bernardino County. Employees will perform a variety of cooking duties including responsibility to monitor others in the preparation of meals. Other required duties include assisting Cook III in preparing food for regular and special diets in large quantities including meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, soups, salads, desserts, bakery good and other foods. Monitoring the work of other food service personnel, ensuring quantity and quality of foods prepared and served; and that a high level of safety and sanitation is maintained throughout the food preparation process. Previewing menus and production tallies to determine type and quantities of meats, starches, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts to be obtained and prepared; make recommendation for menu substitution when foods specified are unavailable; test new products for possible inclusion in the cafeteria or patient services menu. Employees will also plan and coordinate cooking schedules so that foods will be ready at required times and ensure that all food prepared meets existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance; alert supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies; detect and report spoiled or unattractive food, or other unusual conditions. Prepare, season, and cook foods following established recipes, measure and mix ingredients. Use a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinder, slicer, mixer, blender, oven, grill, deep fat fryer, steamer and microwave. Assist with the care and maintenance of department utensils and equipment. Serve in cafeteria as directed. Assist in receiving and storing of food and supplies. Serve as a resource to the public and perform related duties as assigned or requested.
